Great Deals during off-season Algarve
Christmas and New Year is a lively time in the Algarve. Itıs buzzy without the crush, festive but without the pressure elsewhere.

The atmosphere is special, with amazing light displays and larger than life naivety scenes but it is never claustrophobic.

Somehow the Portuguese have a way of making Christmas feel less commercial. The Portuguese give their presents on Christmas Eve and restaurants and bars are often open from Boxing Day which is not celebrated in Portugal.

Off Peak travel and accommodation savings

Not only are flights in November and early December cheap and readily available but in the off- season times villas, apartments and hotels with prohibitive price-tags in the summer are often available at a reasonable cost. The off-season Algarve offers many great opportunities.

The weather

Blue skies, warm days and crisp nights, make it ideal for walks along deserted sandy beaches. Temperatures alone might make it worth staying on until the New Year but to leave before New Yearıs Eve would be to miss the fantastic firework displays which light up the coastline. The best ways to see these are either to find a vantage point for a panoramic view of several displays or choose one of the major resorts.

Festive foodie delights!

Food is major part in the celebrations. Delicacies are often sold in special markets. There is bolo rei, the Portuguese Christmas cake, rich with candied fruits, javali or roasted boar, regional cheeses and presunto a delicious air cured ham.
